Traditional Instructor-led Training (ILT)

This course type is a traditional instructor-led course facilitated by a certified Sumaria Learning instructor and delivered in a physical classroom setting. ILT courses normally include a combination of lecture, lab training, and hands-on exercises to reinforce learned material within a controlled environment.

ILT courses can be held at your work location or an off-site location of your choice; for example, a hotel conference room. Training at your work location usually means that you can train on the company-owned or leased equipment that you use on the job. Certain conference room setups can also allow for hands-on participatory training. In addition, Sumaria Learning provides hands-on ILT in many global locations. For more information, see Training Locations

Travel kits are also available and can be used to train on-site without impacting your existing system, or can be used when training within secured facilities.

Virtual Instructor-led Training (vILT)

Virtual instructor-led training delivers the same content and labs as the classroom ILT course, with a live instructor, in real time, by way of the Internet. vILT sessions are delivered through a secure eLearning collaboration tool that allows our instructor to generate a virtual classroom for up to 30 participants regardless of their location. The tool gives the instructor access to numerous teaching aids to convey course information to learners. These aids include instructional slides, voice over IP (VoIP), interactive polls and questions, document and application sharing, and breakout sessions. Used together, these teaching aids promote a highly interactive learning environment on a virtual instructor-led platform.

Virtual instructor-led training is an ideal way to ensure consistent instruction for geographically dispersed groups. It also has the added social advantage of giving learners the chance to connect cost-effectively with their co-workers and peers from other regions or countries.

vLabs—Real Experience in a Virtual Environment

Virtual labs (vLabs) are an exciting addition to the Sumaria Learning course delivery options. vLabs provide a framework that can mirror almost any hardware or software configuration–even custom environments or proprietary application modules. In a virtual lab, learners master their hardware and software skills in a realistic working environment. vLabs are an ideal teaching and learning tool because unlike a “real” environment, the vLabs environment is relatively risk free. Virtual labs enable users to go beyond a static demonstration or simulation, to experiment and make mistakes working with live equipment. And when mistakes are made or the training is completed, vLabs systems can be restored quickly and without damage.

vLabs offer students and instructors the further advantage of a performance-based assessment. In addition to traditional assessment techniques such as test questions, instructors can also monitor the state of a student’s system after an assignment to better assess the student’s understanding.

And, as with other forms of virtual training, the ability to support groups of geographically dispersed students enables significant cost savings associated with travel and productivity. What's more, you don't need to purchase hardware and allocate space to support your training or employ resources to maintain your training equipment.

Blended Learning

As the name suggests, blended learning incorporates eLearning with more traditional forms of classroom training, and can be delivered in a variety of ways to best enhance the learning experience. For that reason, a blended learning approach accommodates many different learning styles and the many different ways in which people learn. The goal of a blended approach is to combine the best aspects of both face-to-face and online instruction. For example, the online portion of the course can provide students with the theory they need to learn before they participate in the hands-on classroom activities. Time spent in either a physical or virtual classroom can then be used to engage students in advanced interactive experiences. This gives the students flexibility to complete the online course portions any time of day, anywhere that they have Internet access. And, as with other forms of eLearning, a blended approach also gives your organization the opportunity to reduce travel time and costs.
