Sumaria Networks Instructors teach courses of low- to medium-level complexity using a variety of teaching methods and advanced media.  Subject matter includes the sales, design and/or administration, installation, and maintenance of various specific telecom products and peripheral devices.

Instructors teach to any individual, business, or corporation that leases, purchases, or has responsibility for a telecom equipment product or peripheral. They teach in training centers,  business partner sites,   or customer locations. Positions require extensive travel, up to 90 percent, and frequently to international locations.

Instructors are responsible for training students with varied backgrounds, experience, and product knowledge in a blended learning environment, including instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual instructor-led training (vILT).  Specifically, this includes:

  • Creating a comfortable and effective training environment that is conducive to adult learning regardless of the training site and audience mix.
  • Utilizing analytical skills to customize training and adapt documentation to meet the specific needs of each individual in a role-based environment (that is, client executive, design specialist, technician, customer, administrator, and so on).
  • Evaluating individual performance and providing appropriate individual feedback and coaching to each student.

In addition to classroom instruction, other duties can include:

  • Performing project management functions, including installing and setting up equipment and software, delivering training, and closing out training sessions
  • Researching and analyzing new products in order to provide training support.
  • Providing technical support to field offices, business partners, sales forces, and course development organizations.
  • Developing and conducting seminars, workshops, and demonstrations to increase audience knowledge of products, services, and applications.
  • Working with the course development organization to keep course content current for all audiences.

Sumaria Networks instructors must also be able to:

  • Achieve and maintain industry-specific knowledge as applicable to their delivery audiences.
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge in assigned curricula areas.
  • Achieve and maintain Avaya  or other Vendor Certifications for the curricula they teach.
  • Maintain expertise through field experience as needed.

To effectively translate and transfer knowledge to students within all audiences, candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of a particular technical area and working knowledge in a range of technical areas and functions. Candidates should also possess:              

  • Proven instructor platform skills
  • Understanding of and the ability to utilize adult training techniques
  • Field experience in the area or areas of instruction
  • Effective project management skills
  • Good networking and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Management experience and a college degree are also desirable.

Fluency in English and in one of the following additional languages is desired:
